Fruit, Fruit and More Fruit

I love this time of year! Everywhere you turn there is fresh fruit. You can make fruit cobbler, fruit pies, fruit smoothies, fruit compote, fruit jam, but here is a recipe that most people either haven't tried, or haven't ever done it. This was my Grandmother's recipe. Don't hold it against her that she misspelled pureed! Mable (like table) made me FRUIT LEATHER ever year. It was  a real treat. No more buying fruit rollups. Do it yourself!

I have a bag full of plums, and will make some this week. There is a tree down the street from me that is weeping apricots. I think I will ask the owners if I can have some, and then will make them some fruit leather in appreciation.

Here is a photo of my Grandmother, taken about 1991. And her dog, Melody. And her gnome. And her plastic dog that I named Barney. And a little stuffed Snoopy. And I would imagine that it is Valentine's Day, although, there is still a poinsettia behind her.

I miss her so much it hurts.

OMG my daughter will worship you even more if she knew you can make fruit leathers!!

Looks like a great recipe to make with the kids. So much cheaper too. I have 2 questions:

How do you puree' fruit (blender?)

and how do I keep 2 german shepherds out of the stuff for drying time? OK I will figure that part out.....

German Shepherds, fruit leather.... no mix Marge! I love the gramma photo, I am sure that she would be proud that you are passing on a great recipe! What a slower pace we used to have, 8 hours of sunshine, can I sit and watch fruit dry? I am soooooo looking forward to it!

I think I might try to do the fruit leather with the kids this week. I tried it once, and it wasn't too bad!
